only the “full-blooded” are entitled, rowing the potomac

Kathleen Parker has the Chicago Trib has never heard the adage say what you mean and mean what you say, or has decided to ignore it in The ‘Bubba’ vote

That’s how 24-year-old Josh Fry of West Virginia described his preference for John McCain over Barack Obama. His feelings aren’t racist, he explained. He would just be more comfortable with “someone who is a full-blooded American as president.”

Whether Fry was referring to McCain’s military service or Obama’s Kenyan father isn’t clear, but he may have hit upon something essential in this presidential race.

[  ]…Who “gets” America? And who doesn’t?

Barack Obama and his mother were born in the U.S. The only thing that differentiates him from McCain as far as this “full-blooded” ness is that McCain is white and from an elite family who dumped the starter wife and married into an elite white family – full blooded in the context used is nothing but snot so thinly veiled racism. As to who “gets” that, with some valuable media space at her disposal M’s Parker obviously has the opportunity to provide a complete  answer “It’s about blood equity, heritage and commitment to hard-won American values. And roots.” yet she continues to speak in code. The people that “get it” are people of the same mentality otherwise there wouldn’t be some gaping adbsense of real thought of some logic at work. We’re all to jump on the full blooded band wagon not because of Mccain positions on education, the environment, foriegn policy, unionization, labor laws, economics etc. Nope, Johnny Boy is full blooded as compared to that other guy, get it wink wink nudge nudge?

We love to boast that we are a nation of immigrants. But there’s a different sense of America among those who trace their bloodlines back through generations of sacrifice.

Would those bloodlines include that included the slave masters who sit on the proch and made sure the slaves did their work. The entire male population that didn’t think women should have the right to vote among quite a few other social inequalities. Would those be the bloodlines that lit the fires that burned the those accused of witchcraft at Salem. Is McCain a direct descendant of the people that hung  Mary Dyer for simply being a Quaker in 1660. Perhaps she means the native Americans that fed the early colonists that couldn’t feed themselves. Maybe Barack would be considered more bloodline enhanced if he was related to the Chinese workers who helped build ( fully two thirds of the workers were Chinese) America’s first transcontinental railroad in the mid 1800s. Maybe if Obama’s descendants were part of the multiple waves of Irish immigrants who went on to become some America’s most imminent legal scholars and doctors.

What they know is that their forefathers fought and died for an America that has worked pretty well for more than 200 years. What they sense is that their heritage is being swept under the carpet while multiculturalism becomes the new national narrative.

Their “forefathers” as seen through the racists eyes of M’s Parker were made of some pure stuff that only exists in the imaginations of the people like Parker who get it and only one of them, one of the full-blooded is entitled to hold public office. This kind of thinking according to Parker is not the least bit racist; those animals that quack like a duck, have beaks and walk like a duck are generally ducks. Wait, I just remembered and this may, but probably will not put M’s Parker and her ilk at ease. According to Lynn Cheney, the vice president’s wife, who when not writing lesbian soft porn ( a tradition of the full-blooded apparently) likes to research genealogy and found that Dick Cheney and Barack Obama are cousins.

One of several co-discoverers of sculling were the native Americans that lived around the Great lakes.
