Yogi Adityanath, Religion: Hinduism - he is a religious leader and member of parliament from Uttar Pradesh province in India - virulently anti-Muslim. Athuraliye Rathana, Religion: Theravada Buddhism - a monk and member of the Sri Lanka Parliment. Not all Buddhists are pacifists all the time, Rathana has been nicknamed the “war monk” or ethnonationalist that also wants the law to forbid anyone to convert to Christianity. Dov Lior, Religion: Hasidic Judaism - a head rabbi who has said “A thousand non-Jewish lives are not worth a Jew’s fingernail.” Each of these men have quite a bit in common. They each believe that their beliefs and their interpretation of those beliefs are inerrant. Their way is the only way to truth. They and they alone possess special access and insight into that truth. Like all cultist figures they couldn’t thrive without followers. Who derive and at least believe they derive some special benefit from being part of a group of followers. That benefit usually consists of worldly benefits in the form of social and political power combined with the promise of special rewards in an afterlife. These various cult-like forms of fundamentalism also are said to provide some relief from dealing with the complexities and ambiguities of modern life. One no longer has to think, just believe and follow instructions.

Pentagon Releases Propaganda Documents — Will the Media Pay Attention?

Recently Media Matters of America (MMA) reported that, according to a search of the Nexis database, “the three major broadcast networks — ABC, CBS, and NBC — have still not mentioned the report at all.”

The Pew Excellence in Journalism project has a chart showing that ” there was virtually no mainstream media follow up to The Times’ expose” with the only national TV coverage being the introduction segment and live debate featuring CMD’s John Stauber on the PBS NewsHour.

Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro and three dozen colleagues have sent a letter to the Department of Defense Inspector General calling for an investigation of this “propaganda campaign aimed at deliberately misleading the American public.”

The major media outlets may have been accessories to a crime by helping the government disseminate false information. Since the mainstream media are supposed to be the public’s watch dogs this scandal leaves the network’s left to investigating itself. So look forward to zero coverage.
