The Bohr paradox or “What did Bohr really do?”
If Bohr’s quest had a specific result, it was the idea of complementarity. But physicists soon found a more effective and satisfying way to represent quantum phenomena in a technical language using coordinate systems in Hilbert space. Scientists need to pursue possible and important paths even if they do not pan out. Bohr’s greatness was to recognize the importance of this quest, and to relentlessly carry it out with insight and passion. If it did not succeed, and if in the end he would not be able to explain it all to Margrethe — for whom it would have to remain esoteric — that was nature’s doing and not Bohr’s failing. It should not diminish our appreciation of his achievement.
In still other words Bohr’s model of the atom did away with the stability problems in Ernest Rutherford’s “solar-system” model. While even Bohr’s model was too simple all further advancements in quantum mechanics were derived either directly or indirectly from Bohr.

It’s difficult sometimes to understand which news stories will resonate with people. Fox News for instance thought that the amount of news coverage devoted to the lousy conditions for vets at Walter Reed should be less then the coverage of a celebrities death. As did MSNBC. So whether this story will get any analysis from the pundit brigades is anyone’s guess. Senator McCain did not vote for Bush in 2000. The National Review ( a Republican publication not exactly known for high standards of journalism) claims that Arianna Huffington is lying and a McCain spokesman called her some names. The problem with NR and McCain’s spokesman is that three other people including McCain’s wife also said McCain did not vote for Bush. Mrs McCain said she wrote in her husband’s name. That leaves McCain either doing the same or voting for Al Gore.
“McCain was just sort of going off on how much he disliked Bush and the horrible things that the Bush campaign had done to his family in South Carolina, and his exasperation with Bush about his ridiculous tax cuts and he really wanted to talk to him about it, but he said the guy doesn’t have the concentration, and you talk for 10 minutes and then the guy wants to talk about baseball,” Mr. Whitford said.
I’m not sure why McCain would deny that he didn’t vote for Bush in 2000. Bush has become earned the title of the worse president in modern history. Does McCain really want to sell himself to voters as McRepeat. The guy that will carry on another term of the same old.
