While cigarettes aren’t good for us the social trend toward treating smokers like criminals is a mistake. There are far worse things going on in the world then a little second hand smoke. Stolen gunpowder went up with a bang when a teenager flicked cigarette ash near the open bottle, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Alex Joshua Horn and Johnathan Anthony Porche, both 19 and from Bayou Black, remained in jail Wednesday on charges of shoplifting and possessing or making a bomb. Both were arrested Sunday evening.

Satire ahead, White House Staffer Invokes Executive Privilege at Check-Out Counter by Minerva
WASHINGTON, DC – A White House staffer was the subject of a minor incident at a local supermarket on Friday after his assertion of executive privilege at a check-out counter led to a temporary impasse.
According to eye-witnesses, the staffer, a senior justice department aide, was beginning his check-out at the register when he was confronted with the question “paper or plastic?”
The question drew a blank stare for more than a minute, prompting the cashier to repeat the question, this time more slowly. At that point, according to witnesses, the staffer grew agitated and began a long rambling response.
After a few minutes, his response resolved into a repeated statement that he was unable to answer the question, and that he would have to assert “executive privilege.”

Ship of Fools: Setting Sail With ‘The National Review’
Where conservative intellectual Norman Podhoretz puts on his tin foil hat and tries to sell bizarre theories about what happened to those non-existent WMD. This is the big problem with taking a cruise, you leave port and you’re stuck with people like Normy. In this case many of the co-cruisers ponied up six thousand bucks for the privledge. I can walk down the street and get all the looney conspiracy theories I want for free.
Israeli design student Gal Shkedi has his own web site where he has posted a animated video he did to the song Starving in the Belly of a Whale by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan.
