May 6, 2006 at 8:43 am | In news, photography, photoshop, politics | No Commentsupdate 05-07-06: whiched out photos. Decided I wasn't happy with the other one. I did use the same stock vintage photos.
I came across this site a couple days ago, Famous for 15mb
The title is a take on Andy Warhol's observation that because of the mass media everyone will be famous some time during their lives for at least fifteen minutes. Its mostly international music and music videos, but I did find a nice film short. On the front page as I write this are contributions from Hong Kong,Spain, USA, Mexico and Sweden.Viewing the videos is free and they take music and video submissions. The downside is that they choose 15 submissions a month from all the contributions. Though that may be good news for the rest of us since it assures a certain level of quality. If you're creating music and/or music video its a pretty good way to get a showcase for your work.
Today's surprise announcement by Porter Goss comes on the heels of press stories that members of Congress received sexual favors from prostitutes allegedly procured by Brent Wilkes, an entrepreneur implicated in the bribery of Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham. Wilkes, we are told, hosted poker and hooker parties at the Watergate Hotel. Wilkes also happened to be an old high school buddy of the CIA's number three man, Dusty Foggo.
Speculation in the blogosphere suggested that Porter Goss selected Foggo because of his ties to Wilkes and may be implicated in the sexscapades. I'm told by a friend who used to work at the Agency that Goss, on this charge is clean. In fact, Goss may be a victim, guilty only of selecting some lousy staff.
A former CIA buddy tells me that Porter's main problem, however, is a key staffer who is linked to both Brent Wilkes and the CIA's Executive Director, Dusty Foggo. My friend also said that it is highly likely that the Goss staffer did participate in the hooker extravaganza. Goss, politician that he is, probably recognized that even though he did not participate in the sexual escapades and poker games, his staffer's participation created a huge problem for him that would be difficult to escape.
Larry Johnson, who wrote this article is an ex-CIA analyst so he has some good contacts. The CIA involved in some corruption and sexcapades will probably make for some juicy headlines over the next few weeks. Goss wasn't exactly the brightest guy in the world and seemed to be more partisan then the director of the CIA should be, some quotes from Goss,
Goss a life long conservative who was appointed by one of the most bitterly partisan presidents of the last century and his actions "transcends politics"? Goss says CIA leak not worthy of committee action
"I would say there's a much larger dose of partisan politics going on right now than there is worry about national security," said Goss, R-Sanibel. "But I would never take lightly a serious allegation backed up by evidence that there was a willful — and I emphasize willful, inadvertent is something else — willful disclosure, and I haven't seen any evidence."
Goss said he would act if he did have evidence of that sort.
"Somebody sends me a blue dress and some DNA, I'll have an investigation," Goss said.
